Do I need a prescription for certain medications?

Yes, prescription medications require a valid prescription from a licensed Canadian veterinarian. These products are marked with a "Prescription Required" symbol on their product pages. We accept original prescriptions mailed to us or copies sent directly from your veterinarian via fax.

How can my veterinarian send you my pet's prescription?

Your veterinarian can fax the prescription to us at 416-423-7224 or email it to info@vetmeds.ca. Please ensure they include all necessary details, such as patient and owner details, medication name, dosage, instructions for use, and their contact information.

How much does it cost?

The price for a veterinary prescription depends on the specific medication and the quantity prescribed. The prices on this website do not include a dispensing fee ($11.99), delivery fees, or taxes.

Can I send you a copy of the prescription myself?

We require original prescriptions mailed or handed to us or faxed copies sent directly from your veterinarian. We cannot only accept photocopies, scans, or pictures of prescriptions submitted by customers. An original prescription (written or verbal from the prescriber) is ultimately required.

What if I need a medication that's not listed on your website?

We carry a vast range of products for pets (and their humans), but if you don't see what you're looking for, please contact us. We'll do our best to source the item and provide you with a price quote.

Do you offer compounded medications?

Yes, we provide compounded medications for pets with specific requirements. Our licensed pharmacists can customize medications to suit your pet's unique needs. Please contact us for more details as a valid prescription is likely required.

How much does shipping cost, and how long will it take?

Shipping costs depend on the size of your order and its destination. All orders include a tracking number, and shipping options and costs are displayed during checkout. We strive to use the most cost-efficient and timely shipping methods available. A signature will be required for all deliveries.

Do you ship internationally?

We only ship within Canada.

Rest assured, we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and e-transfer. If you choose to pick up your order at our pharmacy, you may also pay using cash or debit.

Are the medications from VetMeds.ca the same as those from my veterinarian?

Yes, we dispense only Health Canada-approved medications, identical to those sold by your veterinarian. It's against Canada's Drugs Act and Food and Drug Regulations to advertise or sell unapproved drugs.

How will I be counseled on new or repeat prescriptions or over-the-counter products?

Your veterinarian has the most comprehensive understanding of your pet's health. We recommend consulting them before starting any new therapy. Upon receiving a new prescription for your pet, one of our pharmacists will contact you to review the medication. Our pharmacists are always available to answer any questions you may have.

What should I do if I have a concern or complaint?

Can VetMeds.ca contact my veterinarian to obtain a prescription?

Yes, with your authorization, we can reach out to your veterinarian to request a prescription on your behalf. Please select this option when placing your order, and ensure you've discussed the medication with your veterinarian beforehand. Some veterinarians may charge an additional fee for this service that is not related to VetMeds.ca.

We understand that sometimes things don’t go as planned, and you may wish to return a product. At VetMeds.ca, we aim to make the process as straightforward as possible while ensuring the safety and quality of the products we provide.

How do I know my order has been received?

After contacting us, you will speak with one of our team members who will confirm your order. Once your order is shipped, we'll send an email containing the tracking number and carrier information (in some cases). If you have any questions about your order status, please contact us with your order ID number for prompt assistance.

When will I be charged for my order?

You will be charged for your order once it has been fully assembled and is ready to ship. Payment is required in advance of orders being shipped.

Are my orders subject to tax?

All veterinary products are subject to applicable taxes based on your province or territory. Our online store shows prices before any taxes, dispensing fees, or delivery charges.

What shipping methods do you use?

Our standard shipping method is via Purolator. During checkout, you can choose between courier or pick-up options. All orders containing prescription items require proof of delivery, and a signature may be required upon receipt at the destination.

Do you ship refrigerated items?

We ship items requiring refrigeration with additional fees for cooler and ice packs, due to potential delays and the risk of damage during transit. Additional fees may apply to refrigerated items.
